Czar of Russia (born 1796) who reigned from 1825 until his death in 1855. By crushing the Decembrist Uprising, he confirmed the autocracy of czarist rule, but disastrous losses in the Crimean War marked the collapse of his foreign and domestic policies. Untranslated letter to his niece, Princess Marie de Mecklembourg. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in his own hand.
